It’s only natural that a growing company will want to assess a workforce management system from time to time to make sure it’s still meeting critical needs. Let’s face it – without an effective workforce management system in place, a company can become increasingly non-productive over time. It can also get frustrating trying to manage personnel functions with an outdated workforce management plan. Here are some tips to help you assess whether your current workforce management system needs a serious overhaul:

Conduct a total review of your current workforce management processes. Start with the basics, such as how you are handling recruitment, onboarding and payroll functions. Then move onto other areas of workforce management like employee development, training and benefits. Make a list of the roadblocks that prevent you from getting the job done efficiently. Then make a list of what you do like about your current workforce management system.

Do an employee 360 degree survey to get internal feedback. Oftentimes your best source of information on whether your workforce management system is working is to go to the source – the employees. Send out a simple email survey and ask employees to provide their honest feedback about specific areas of the company that may need improvement. This can give you valuable information from which to make a new and improved workforce management plan.

Get managers involved for more ideas and feedback. Once you have gathered your data from employees, meet with each department manager to talk about how they feel the workforce management system is functioning. Have them identify key areas that need improvement or modification, then ask for additional feedback after the changes are approved and put into place. By making small changes, this can have a big impact on the overall success of your employee management processes.

Consult with a workforce management company. Now that you’ve started evaluating your current workforce strategy, the best idea is to contact a reputable workforce management company like Avontis Group for help. Our professionals can work with you to develop an updated workforce management program that meets the needs of your company goals. You’ll find that Avontis Group has the workforce management solutions that will take your employee processes to a higher level of efficiency and much less frustration.

This article is great. We went through a transition to a company that was way too diverse and not interested in customizing to our needs. My NUMBER 1 tip, having been through this process is to make sure you really drill down on customization requests, ect. It will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
